Sami Mohammed is the Data Protection Commissioner of the Abu Dhabi Global Market, appointed by the ADGM’s Board of Directors in 2021.

Sami has over 22 years of working experience in public and private sectors in the UAE, Including Law Enforcement and the financial sector, particularly in AML-CTF as well as Data Protection and Compliance.

Sami holds an MBA (General Management) from the Canadian University of Dubai, and certified compliance officer, from The University of Manchester.

He is the first Emirati Commissioner in the UAE and the first Data Protection Commissioner in the ADGM, he led the efforts in building the ADGM Data Protection Supervisory Authority, Implementing and enforcing the first GDPR-styled Regulations in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

He is an active promoter of Data Protection Rights in the UAE, he advised the federal government on the first draft of the Federal Data Protection Law in the UAE.
